Sunday is a big day

This evening we spoke with the attending here in the ICU. The care team is now recommending that tomorrow morning we attempt another trial weaning off ECMO and then attempt to take her off ECMO. We've known this day was coming and have hoped for it, but we are also very scared. There is no way to really tell how she'll do once she's off the machine. Will her heart function well enough to sustain life on its own? Will she handle the transition coming off? Will she maintain good vital signs? These are the pressing questions.

We pray that Evie will be protected from the great risks of ECMO one more night and that in the morning her heart and her entire body will have enough strength, vitality, and function to begin the long road of recovery.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you throughout the night and into the day...may you find some rest in the midst of anxiety, some peace in the midst of uncertainty. May you feel wrapped in our love as you wrap Evie in yours.

I am praying for a wreath of protection around your sweet baby girl. I learned of your challange from your Aunt Marge, while doing a phone survey! Being the chatterbox that I am, when she said she was born in '50 I had to ask when. Our birthdays are 2 days apart! I truly believe we were brought together for a reason, and my prayers for you are that reason! I believe in prayer and HAVE seen some of my prayers answered, so know that I will be thinking and praying for you and Evie! My love to your little family, through Jesus. Paula Pennington

We're sorry to hear about Evangeline Marie. You're in our prayers and thoughts. Nicole and Matt we had problems with our son Ron J when he was born but nothing to compare with what you young people have. May peace fill our hearts.

Evie, Nicole & Matt,

We will definitely be holding you in our hearts and prayers today and through the following days of recovery. As many have said, we can't imagine the emotional rollercoaster this must be for you, but know that we are thinking of you constantly. God is with you all, holding you up through all of this.

Love,
Becky & Ryan
