Day by Day...

...and with each passing moment. It was the hymn we sang at Evie's memorial. It's become a kind of theme song for us since losing Evie. Its probably no coincidence that the songwritter Lina Sandell also experienced a tragic loss of her child. We experience both pain and pleasure, toil and rest. But we take life one day at a time: mourning her every day, but doing our best to live on.

We want this webpage to stay as it is in memory of Evangeline, so this will likely be the final update. Though we are finished here, Nicole and I have decided to continue to keep writing and you can read that writing at http://witheachpassingmoment.blogspot.com.

Its worth saying one more time, thank you to all who cared and loved our family so much.

My sister, my parent's first child, lived only one day. I've missed her all my life, even though I never got to know her. (I'm crying even as I type this.) We did get to carry on her names in the names of our firstborn, who turned out to be twin girls.

I found your blog from a comment you put on Isaac and Andrea's blog. Isaac and Andrew grew up as MKs with our children.

Oh, we know another couple named Matt and Nicole. They are youth pastors on the East Coast now.

Thanks, Wayne. It's nice to hear another example of a sibling who grew up with the knowledge of their sister's death. I always wonder how that will affect our future children, and actually I have hoped that they would pass on her name to one of our grandchildren someday! So it's funny you should say that.

Thanks for your story. It's nice to know that she will be a part ofg our family for our whole lives, even in the lives of her siblings.
